Halloween Town by Joss Wood book review

Halloween Town by Joss Wood is a charming paranormal romance set in Solstice Springs, a quirky small town where Halloween is celebrated year-round. πŸŽƒ When Poppy McMaster flees her wedding and returns to her hometown, she discovers that her beloved grandparents' inn is now owned by Thom Sheffield—her childhood hero and her ex-fiancΓ©'s brooding older brother. πŸ‘» With meddling ghosts, cozy autumn traditions, and undeniable chemistry, Poppy must navigate a second chance at love in the most unexpected way.

❤️Romance readers will love this book, and I found myself equally enchanted. ✨ The paranormal elements are delightfully woven throughout—the meddling ghosts who encourage Poppy to escape her wedding are charming and fun, adding whimsy without overshadowing the central love story. πŸ‘»πŸ’¨ The ghost characters bring genuine humor and heart to the narrative, making the town feel alive and magical. πŸŒ™ Poppy and Thom's connection crackles with years of suppressed longing and unresolved history, creating authentic chemistry that feels earned rather than rushed. πŸ’• I loved watching Poppy reclaim her agency and discover what she truly wants, separate from others' expectations. The small-town setting, with its pumpkins, cozy traditions, and Halloween magic, creates an atmosphere that's both comforting and romantic. πŸ‚πŸ˜️ It's the kind of book that makes you want to escape to a place where spooky season never ends—and isn't that exactly what we need from a good romance? Five stars for this festive, paranormal-tinged escape. πŸŽƒ⭐🧑

Fossil Feud by Maggie North book review

Fossil Feud is a delightful STEM romance that follows Ripley Adams, a disgraced paleontologist searching for redemption through a groundbreaking discovery, a missing link between dinosaurs and birds. When Oxford professor James Smithson unexpectedly arrives at her Montana dig site, Ripley finds herself reluctantly partnering with him to expose a fraudulent fossil. What begins as an academic alliance quickly becomes something far more complicated as Ripley and James navigate their undeniable chemistry while racing to uncover the truth. This rivals-to-lovers story masterfully weaves together themes of academic betrayal, redemption, and the courage it takes to trust again. 🦴⛏️

Romance readers will absolutely devour this book, especially those who love a slow-burn tension that crackles with yearning and witty banter. The dynamic between Ripley and James is electric, their opposing personalities and perspectives create genuine conflict that feels earned rather than manufactured, and watching them gradually lower their defenses is deeply satisfying. What particularly resonated with me was how North tackles the very real sexism and misogyny in academia, giving Ripley's journey genuine stakes beyond the romance itself. I loved the dinosaur theme throughout, the paleontology setting isn't just window dressing but integral to the characters' identities and the story's heart. The found family elements, the humor, and James's secret artistic side add layers of warmth that elevate this story. I loved it so much that I devoured it in one sitting. Highly recommend.πŸ¦–πŸ’•

A Deal with a Debutante by Chelsea Bobulski book review

American heiress Calliope Hart is thrust into London's high society against her will, desperate to escape the marriage mart and return to her life in New York. Enter Edward Chase, the Earl of Hayward, who is financially ruined and needs a wealthy wife to save his estate. When he boldly proposes a deal—he'll show her the sights of London if she'll visit his estate and consider marriage, Calliope reluctantly agrees. What begins as a business arrangement soon ignites into undeniable chemistry, forcing both to confront their fears about love, trust, and whether they can see past their initial intentions to find something genuine.

Historical romance readers will love this book, and I'm no exception. The marriage of convenience trope gets a fresh twist here, with witty banter and slow-burn tension that keeps you turning pages. Calliope is a standout heroine.  I like her feisty and independent attitude, while Edward is the brooding, duty-bound earl who slowly realizes what he truly wants. Their relationship develops naturally and feels earned rather than forced, with longing and quiet moments that had me invested from early on. The Edwardian setting gives major Downton Abbey vibes, and closed-door romance makes it accessible to a wide range of readers. I devoured this in a single day and would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone. It's the perfect lighthearted historical romance with heart and a deeply satisfying happily ever after.
